SSF 2009 World Tour in Portland
As a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Sapporo - Portland sister city relationship, SAPPORO Short Fest toured Portland, screening films from the "Sapporo Anime Shorts" section of the festival at the North West Film Center in Portland.
We first visited Portland's city hall and met the mayor and other members of the city. Especially because it was the 50th anniversary of our sister city relationship, we were greeted with a warm welcome and tour of the city.
The screening of "Sapporo Anime Shorts" took place on December 6th at 16:30 at the NW Film Center. The audience of 100 included many children thanks to the fact that the screening consisted of a series of animated short films.
First, Toshiya Kubo, producer of the SAPPORO Short Fest, introduced each of the seven short films before they were screened.
The audience seemed quiet at first, but the comedic pieces brought out the laughter. Many young people were looking at flyers at the entrance to the venue, showing that these films do in fact spark the interest of the younger generation.

SAPPORO Short Fest's role isn't only that of entertainment. It also serves as an event for cultural and economic exchange, serving Sapporo city and promoting it to the world
