Report: Artist Talk Show
On June 9th, a talk show featuring Sharon Chin took place at the OYOYO Machi_Art Center Sapporo as part of the residency program ICC organizes.
Sharon is from Malaysia and has been in Sapporo since May of this year.
Born in Kuala Lumpur, she is one of the few artists gathering attention in the modern art world of Malaysia. Based on her interests in Malaysia’s geography, history, and religion, she creates works ranging from written works and sculptures to videos and performances.
At her talk show, Sharon showed her latest work, a performance she gave in Sydney, and debut works from her student days. The various works she presented gave the audience an idea of the path she has lead up to this point. She also explained the background of her works, which included the political state of Malaysia and its religions. The audience was sucked in to her presentation.
