Bikky Sunazawa's exhibit "Enju" a huge success!
From March 6th to March 8th, ICC was the host of an exhibit titled "Bikky Sunazawa Remembrance Gallery 'Enju'"
Many visitors honored this Hokkaido local and world-renowned sculptor during the exhibition thanks to his son and organizer, Jin Sunazawa.
Many beautiful pieces were exhibited, but most eye-catching was a massive sculpture of a crab. It's size, of course, but it's texture, so detailed that you could mistake it for bronze, impressed all that beheld it.

The giant crab was impressive for its size and detailed texture.
Bikky's wish was to have the audience "see, touch, and feel" his artwork. Some pieces were offered to attendees to take in their hands and feel their texture, allowing them to imagine the feelings that went into creating the piece.

One of the joys of the exhibit was that you could touch the artwork.
One of Bikky's unique ideas called "Juka" was replicated. Attendees enjoyed adding their own branches to this work of art, changing its form as the day progressed.

Many rare pieces were exhibited.
It was a first for ICC to become the venue for a famous artist's exhibit. It was surprising to witness a space normally used as a café transformed into a beautiful gallery.

A constant flow of attendees made the event a great success.
Following its exhibit in Kamakura in January, this exhibit moved on to Sapporo. Its next stop is a zoo in Asahikawa City. I can't wait to see the children enjoy this fascinating exhibit.
