Report: Creative Meeting "Traveling With Sound"
On February 6th, a creative meeting titled “Traveling With Sound” was hosted by ICC graduate Junichi Oguro at U-cala.
Oguro provides music to various commercial projects as a sound creator. He directed a project for the Beijing Olympics in 2008 called the Adidas Art Project.
Last year, he joined an overseas assigning program to go to Belfast, Ireland and produce music. He reported on his recent activities and gave a live performance with his new Irish edge.

He introduced some of the newest sound technology of our time.

He gave demos on a speaker board developed at MIT and a system that creates sound from visuals in real time.

At the performance, a video camera captured the image of Oguro playing a keyboard. This camera was connected to a computer, which could convert the image to only display color information in real time. This changing color would then be read by the computer to create music.

The musical environment created by the computer was accompanied by keyboard.
The peculiar and soothing music surrounded the audience. Later, Irish food was served, giving the audience an opportunity to speak with Oguro about his experiences in Ireland.
