ICC + SIC Workshop Results
The results of a student and creator collaboration workshop titled “sapporo ideas city Workshop” were shown as an exhibit from January 26th to the 30th at the Sapporo City Hall lobby.
The workshop’s purpose was to discover “Creative Resources Sapporo Can Be Proud Of”. Forty students and creators spent 4 days running around the city to search, think, and discuss people, things, places, and ideas that could be considered one of Sapporo’s creative resources. The final list of Sapporo’s resources reached an impressive 181 items and the participants visualized 141. More are sure to come.
The story behind how a resource was picked, the visual representation of that resource, and a business card utilizing a visual of the resource was created, shedding light on the creative city that Sapporo truly is.

Participants excavated creative resources in Sapporo, whether they were people, things, places, or ideas.

Resources were listed up and visualized, then used for images on business cards.
When looking at these elegantly portrayed creative resources, two things come to mind. One is that Sapporo is truly full of creativity, and the other is that the participants debated, revised, perfected, and otherwise spent much time and effort to create these pieces of work.

The concept of the workshop and practical application of the idea can also be seen in the participants’ work.
Sapporo City Mayor Fumio Ueda was handed his own sample business cards during a visit to the exhibit. “Seeing it visualized this way, it is apparent that Sapporo is a creative city. I’d like to use this workshop as a way to show the rest of the world the great things about Sapporo,” he said.

Mayor Fumio Ueda visited the exhibit.

Mayor Fumio Ueda and Economic Affairs Director General Inoue received sample business cards from student representatives.

Thank you to everybody who participated in this workshop!
