S-AIR invites artist to screen short films.

On December 16th, NPO S-AIR and ICC invited Holland-based Canadian filmmaker Marie-Josee Saint-Pierre to screen her short films at Theater Kino in Central Sapporo.
Marie incorporates a unique style using animation to create documentaries. With this one-of-a-kind technique, she has earned her self high acclaim at many film festivals around the world.
She screened four short films made while staying in Sapporo. These films make up what she calls the "Sapporo Project". The packed seats erupted with cheers after each film was screened.
The "Sapporo Project" involves the calligraphy of Sapporo local Gazanbo Higuchi. Marie took these calligraphy pieces and animated them so that they moved. Music used in the short films was made by Hokkaido's own tonkori musician, OKI.

Gasanbo Higuchi, left, attended the screening.

Not a seat left in the house.

Marie arrived at the screening adorned in a kimono. An ICC staff member helped her put on the kimono.
